Posted by Williamsburg Community Chapel on

Exciting things are happening at Grove Christian Outreach Center! As one of our local partners, the Chapel supports Grove’s mission to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the poor and disadvantaged in our community. Read on for an update and easy ways you can get involved!

New Ministry to Grove: God's Moving One-to-One

Bust your household clutter and bless a Grove family in need! God’s Moving One-to-One is a new Chapel-supported ministry that will pick up your gently-used appliances, furniture, and electronics and distribute them in partnership with Grove Christian Outreach Center. Your unused “larger items” can become precious gifts to people in need.

Do you have any of these much-needed items to give?

  • Kitchen Appliances: Microwave Ovens | Electric Stoves | Refrigerators | Dishwasher
  • Household Appliances: Electric Dryers | Washers | Laptop Computers
  • Living Room Furniture: Coffee Tables | TV Stands | Table & Chairs | Sofas | Small Bookcase
  • Bedroom Furniture: Dressers | Twin Mattress | Full Mattress with Box Spring & Frame | Queen Mattresses and Box Spring

The God’s Moving team will gladly arrange a pickup and give you a receipt for tax purposes. Items should be clean and in good working order. For more information, please email Mary Morrison, , and Pamela Janaro, . Thank you for your generosity!

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” – Acts 20:35

Update on the Grove Trotter “Looking Cool for School Box”

In July, the Chapel hosted a Grove-Trotter “Looking Cool for School” donation box to collect polo shirts and slacks for students at James River Elementary. Through the generosity of the congregation, Grove Christian Outreach Center received school uniforms with an estimated value of $447.

Barbara Murray, Grove Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator said, “Truly this will contribute to our student’s academic readiness and success. In a five-month period, Grove-Trotter boxes have garndered over $11,000 worth of donations and are enabling us to assist Grove families in meeting their physicial needs.”

Please keep an eye out for future themed Grove-Trotter boxes, coming to the Mission Corner later this year.
