Dear Chapel Family,
This past Sunday morning I introduced our new Annual Focus: Called to Explore. We learned that all disciples are mobile disciples for, in Acts 1:8, Jesus’ disciples are called to explore. Sunday evening we gathered again for our quarterly Chapel Family Update; we continued to learn about places Jesus is calling us to mobilize within our community and opportunities for continued engagement with the mission He has given us.
At our meeting, we received a Financial Update, a Fall Ministry Launch/Explore God Introduction, a Next 40 Update (along with a Next 40 Q&A Session), and a Lead Pastor’s Update detailing this year’s Annual Focus. If you were unable to be with us this past weekend, videos of each segment of the meeting, along with a video of the entire meeting, are available at the end of this email. While I believe each segment contains valuable information for anyone who calls the Chapel their church home, if you are only able to prioritize one video, I’d like to ask you to watch our Next 40 Update by clicking the button below.
I look forward to continuing our expedition this coming Sunday as we worship together and begin our first series, Explore God, in this year’s Annual Focus. My hope is that our participation in this community-wide study would not only deepen our understanding of Jesus’ call to explore, but would also deepen our partnership with the larger body of Christ in the Historic Triangle, helping us embrace unity with each other that is made possible by our union in Christ.
Finally, as we look toward the weekend, we want to be intentionally praying for all those who will be impacted by Hurricane Florence. Updated information on how the inclement weather may affect Chapel events can be found at wcchapel.org/weather. As we’ll study this year, explorers often encounter storms on their expeditions. But we can rest in the promise that Jesus gave to His disciples before He sent them off on their great expedition: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”(Matthew 28:20)
See you Sunday.
