Dear Chapel Members,
I want to invite each of you to this year’s Chapel Family Update: Annual Meeting Edition on April 28 at 6:30 pm in the Worship Room. As members of the Chapel, attendance is not only part of our membership commitments but a vital part of what it means to present Jesus to those around us. In John 17:21 Jesus prays for us, “that they all may be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (ESV) The Bible is clear, we cannot express the Body of Christ in its fullest form to our community unless we express it together.
As we consider the commitments we make to one another as members of the same Body of Believers, I have provided a link to our membership covenant for your review. Click here to view the covenant. One of our most important roles as members is the election of new elders. Six candidates have successfully completed our Elder Apprenticeship Program in preparation for this year’s elder selection process. There are four vacancies in the ten-member Elder Board this year. At its regularly-scheduled meeting on April 3, 2019, the Elder board appointed a new elder, Ray Schultz, in keeping with our Constitution. At the Annual Meeting, we will have the opportunity to elect three additional new elders. To learn more about each candidate who is up for election and the candidate the elders have appointed, please click the button below.
New this year is an additional opportunity to learn more about the elder candidates, a Meet the Elder Candidates night this Sunday, April 7 at 6:30 pm in the Worship Room. Each candidate will share his faith story and his involvement at the Chapel, followed by a time of light refreshments and the opportunity to engage with the candidates in an informal setting. As this year is the first in recent memory that we have a slate of candidates that exceeds the number of available positions, I especially encourage you to attend this Sunday evening as you prepare for your opportunity to vote for our new elders.
Our quarterly Chapel Family Updates and our recent Nature of the Chapel series have helped foster our sense of shared partnership regarding the mission Jesus entrusted to His church. The world is looking for an example of unity in the midst of diversity. May our Annual Meeting for our interdenominational family of faith display the unity of our Triune God to a watching world.
