Dear Chapel Family,
Last Sunday night, many from our congregation gathered for our 5th Chapel Family Update. It has been encouraging to see a core of the Chapel family regularly come together to share information, ask questions, and listen to insights from every corner of the room. These gatherings have helped with communication, transparency, and most importantly, our entire Body's sense of shared partnership regarding the mission Jesus entrusted to His Church.
We heard three reports from the Leadership Team. The topics covered were updates on our Finance Team, our progress and priorities filling out the staff structure we walked through at the last Chapel Family Update (if you would like to see the Chapel's organizational structure it is available on our website here), and a final report on how Jesus is settling us into the future of what He has for the Chapel.
A few highlights from our time together:
1. Eileen Grant introduced our new Treasurer, Rob Topping (for more information about Rob, click here). This volunteer position plays an important role in maintaining the Chapel's financial integrity and internal controls. She also updated us on the Finance Director search, which is down to the final candidates and is projected to be finished in early July.
2. Rich Sylvester reviewed the organizational structure and the current open positions at the Chapel. He talked through the current hiring priorities at the Chapel and pointed the Chapel family to the website to view the job descriptions for each open position. Finally, Rich encouraged the Chapel family that the new structure, and its emphasis on connecting new attendees to Jesus and this family of faith, is producing solid results within our Next Steps classes.
3. I closed the meeting by walking everyone through the resurrection narratives in Luke and John as a model for how we might look for Jesus at work in our midst as He settles us into the future He planned since the foundations of the world.
I believe that Jesus' Body is seen more clearly when we come together in unity. Sharing information, listening, and asking and answering questions serve the cause of unity in the midst of our community. When we learn more about how Jesus is moving in our midst, we are equipped to join Him on the mission He gave to the Church, to make disciples. What an honor it is that we have the opportunity to engage in this mission together.
Grateful for your partnership,
Lead Pastor, Williamsburg Community Chapel
