Shirley and I have lived in the Williamsburg area since 1983. When we first moved here, I had finished serving five years in the Navy, out of Norfolk, and was working at Newport News Shipbuilding. We had two daughters by then, Meredith and Courtney, and Bethany joined us in 1985. We started attending Williamsburg Community Chapel in 1986 because we had attended the Virginia Beach Community Chapel during the first year of our marriage in 1977 and remembered the wonderful and clear teaching of Dick Woodward. Over the years, we have made some changes while living here. I left the shipyard for a career change into financial planning, and Shirley has worked as a nurse for a few different medical providers. Currently she is working at Eastern State Hospital. I have loved teaching the Vine Life Mini Bible College Class and singing in the choir. Shirley has been active in Stephen Ministry and as a greeter. We both have greatly enjoyed being part of several small groups over the years. We both are so grateful for the foundation that our girls received at the Chapel in their personal relationship with the Lord. They are all married now with children of their own.
We have a great love for this place because this is where we have met the Lord and He has met with us for most of our adult lives. We have made lasting friendships and received much love and support in trying times, and we believe that the best days lie ahead as we continue to learn what it means to be part of His Church!
