A Note from Rich
by Rich Sylvester on December 29, 2020
Dear Chapel Family,
In this season, the Chapel has remained committed to meeting people wherever they are spiritually and physically. Our staff team has also been committed to communicating well with our family of faith so that we can continue worshiping together safely.
I’m writing to let you know that on Monday, December 28, Lead Pastor Travis Simone tested positive for COVID-19. Travis began experiencing symptoms on Sunday evening (December 27) and is currently resting and quarantining at home. Please keep the entire Simone family in your prayers during this challenging season.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), “an infected person can spread COVID-19 starting 48 hours (or 2 days) before the person has any symptoms or tests positive.” (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html) Travis has reached out directly to anyone he believes may have had an exposure as defined by the Virginia Department of Health (https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/local-exposure/). Our entire team takes the health and safety of our Chapel family very seriously. If you believe you had an interaction with Travis that meets the exposure criteria, please contact your healthcare provider for guidance. For any other questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly at .
As a family of faith, we will continue to meet people wherever they are spiritually and physically by worshiping together inside, outside, and online. We also remain committed to applying Romans 12:10b(“outdo one another in showing honor”) and Romans 13:1 by honoring our government’s guidelines. I encourage each member of the Chapel family to worship with us in whatever manner you feel most comfortable in this season and I continue to be grateful for the new wineskins we have created that allow us to meet people wherever they are. For more information about how we will continue to worship together safely, please visit wcchapel.org/worshipingtogether.
Excited to worship together this Sunday – inside, outside, and online.
Rich Sylvester, Lead Associate Pastor
