Chapel Weekly Email - March 2, 2021

by Williamsburg Community Chapel on March 02, 2021

This Past Sunday

Fix Your Eyes on Jesus the Forgiver: "She loved much.”: (Luke 7:18-50)

As we continue to fix our eyes on Jesus the Forgiver, Luke 7:36-50 juxtaposes two very different individuals: an influential Pharisee named Simon, and an unnamed woman branded as “sinful.” Rich Sylvester showed us that their different responses to Jesus and Jesus’ responses to them teach us that if we want to live a forgiven life, we need to experience the miraculous forgiveness of God.

To hear and see more from our Sunday worship services visit wcchapel.org/worship or watch our condensed worship service below:

Service of Communion

This Sunday, March 7, during the morning services:
9am - Inside (Worship Room), 11am - Outside (under the tent), and Online
We invite you to join us however you are comfortable as we remember Christ’s sacrifice for our sins. If you will be celebrating at home and need communion elements, you can pick them up at the Reception Desk or Main Foyer during the week.

Chapel Family Questionnaire

During this unique season, we want to better know the Chapel family in order to better serve the Chapel family. While we are grateful for the opportunities we have to meet folks wherever they are by worshiping together outside, inside, and online, we are also experiencing the practical challenge of knowing our entire Chapel family as well as we can. For this reason, if you consider the Williamsburg Community Chapel your church home at any level then we invite you to respond to our Chapel Family Questionnaire. Please watch the video below of Associate Pastor, Hunter Ruch, to learn more. Click the button to respond to the questionnaire.

Volunteer Opportunities

Adopt-a-Teacher/Staff Member

We have almost adopted all the teachers and staff members at James Blair Middle School but we still have a few left! Let's make sure everyone there receives a note of encouragement and support through this difficult season. The Chapel has partnered with New Zion Baptist Church to come alongside the James Blair Middle School community to provide that support and encouragement. Please consider adopting a teacher or staff member today! Visit our sign up by clicking the button below.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Wednesday, March 17 from 2-7pm, Student Ministry Worship Room
With safety procedures in place, the Chapel will be hosting a blood drive to help our community. Click the button below and select Williamsburg Community Chapel. Then you can choose which time slot you'd like to donate in. All successful donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies! Thank you for serving others through being a blood donor!

Volunteer with our Local Mission Partner
Williamsburg Young Life Virtual Banquet

Tuesday, March 30 from 7-7:30pm
Being a teenager can be hard.  Being a teenager during a global pandemic significantly amplifies those challenges. Fortunately, Young Life in Williamsburg is uniquely positioned to help kids where they are hurting the most. Join us for our first-ever virtual event, and hear more about what Young Life leaders and staff are currently doing to impact kids with faith, leadership and love, both during and coming out of one of the most difficult years for teenagers in history. Hear about our heart for our teenage friends, how we plan on continuing to impact them, and how you can help Young Life change teenagers lives for years to come.

Want to help?: You can serve as a table host, and help get people who love you and have a heart for kids to tune in to our virtual event! If interested, contact Area Director, Nathan Havasy at

Pray for Virginia Cities

Three organizations, Greater Williamsburg Movement, the Hampton Roads City Collective and the Virginia Unity Project are committed to go to “the altar” in prayer for 2021. As part of 31 churches/prayer groups that have adopted a day a month to pray for our cities, state, nation and world, the Chapel has committed to the first Thursday of every month. Each month, a bible verse, prayer request, and a brief historical fact from African-American history (we encourage you to “Google” these names to learn more about their stories!) will be provided.

March Theme: Revival in the Church (changed hearts lead to transformation)
Bible Verse: “Ask the Lord to break our hearts for what breaks His heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
Prayer: Ask the Lord to break our hearts for what breaks His heart.
Historical Fact: Garrett Morgan, the inventor of the automatic three-way traffic light, was born in 1877.
Thank you for joining us in this commitment!
