Chapel Weekly Email - September 14, 2021
by Williamsburg Community Chapel on September 14, 2021
This Sunday we will begin our first mini-series in our new Annual Focus: the Beauty of “My Church.” The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 5:25b, “…Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” Jesus bought the church at the price of his own blood. We are stewards of something of inestimable value. Join us as we marvel at the beauty of what God is building in his church.
Last Sunday we looked at Matthew 16:18 and asked the question: Where are you at church? We are in the midst of Jesus’ possession, part of a called out gathering, and united in a family. This year, as we focus on Jesus’ claim, “I will build my church,” we seek to deepen our understanding that the church is Jesus’ family on Jesus’ mission. This past Sunday’s sermon sets up our teaching theme for the entire year.

This past Sunday, the Chapel family gathered for our 2021 Annual Meeting to celebrate all that Jesus has done over the past 18 months, as well as elect four new elders to our board. We’d like to thank each of our candidates – Ashley Heacock, Bob Hipple, Kirk Komarnicki, Terry Lowe, Faith Olson, and Wally Sale – for their diligence in walking through the elder nomination process, which included learning about the biblical role of elders/overseers and how the role is lived out in our context, as well as interviewing with the elder nominating committee. We also thank them for their humility in submitting to the congregational vote.
As a result of Sunday’s vote, the four members joining the elder board are Bob, Kirk, Terry, and Faith.
As we move into a new Annual Focus and the start of our fall ministry season, let’s welcome both our new elders and one another in keeping with the Apostle Paul’s teaching in Romans 15:7 – “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
If you were not able to attend the meeting in person, please click the button below to watch the recording.
A great way to "welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you" (Romans 15:7) is to participate together in corporate prayer. We hope you will join us tomorrow (and every Wednesday) Sept. 15 at 9:30am for our devotion and prayer. You can pray with us either in-person under the tent or online at wcchapel.org/devotions, Facebook, and YouTube. If you cannot join us at 9:30am, the most recent prayer time is also available on our website in addition to Facebook and YouTube.
Serving is a great way to give back to the God who has already given everything for us. As we reconnect, we need your help. There is now an easy way for you to view the many opportunities available to volunteer as an individual, family, or small group! We will continue to update the list as new opportunities become available throughout the year.
God created us to flourish in groups. Whether you thrive best in a co-ed group, men’s/women’s group, or a micro-group of five or less, we want to help you find the group that will best help you grow to be more like Jesus. If you are not currently part of a small group, please click the button below to complete our group interest form online, and we will get back to you.
Fridays, 7-8am, Revolution Golf & Grille (1430 High Street, Suite 706)
All men in the community are invited for breakfast and to study together. Our time in God's word will focus on God's transformation of His people in the wilderness of Sinai. We will see how God wants to continue to transform us as we navigate through our own "wilderness journeys" today. We hope you will pray and invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join us each Friday morning as we connect and grow together. For more information and to register, click the button below.
Reminder that we are now welcoming children 6 weeks-2 years into our nursery rooms for both the outdoor and indoor services! Children can be checked in 15 minutes prior to the service in the nursery area inside. Our screened, trained, and eager volunteers will be ready to keep your children safe and happy during the service. If you have any questions, please contact Christine Thomas at .
