Chapel Weekly Email - September 7, 2021
by Williamsburg Community Chapel on September 07, 2021
In honor of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 this week, we continue to gather to pray for our community, our nation, and our world. As we long to see God’s movement in the world around us, we hope you will join us tomorrow (and every Wednesday) September 8 at 9:30am (*NEW TIME) for our devotion and prayer. You can pray with us either in-person under the tent or online at wcchapel.org/digitaldevotions, Facebook, and YouTube. If you cannot join us at 9:30am, the most recent prayer time is also available on our website in addition to Facebook and YouTube.
Starting this Sunday, Sept. 12, we will begin our new Annual Focus, "My Church". Through June 2022, the Chapel family will seek to align its understanding of church with Jesus’ intention for church. We will walk through eight sermon series that will call us to greater levels of understanding and obedience regarding the beauty, the worship, the location, the relationships, the “chosen instrument”, and the life of the church. To learn more about the Annual Focus, click HERE.
Sunday, September 12, 6:30-8pm, Outside and Inside
(A cookout and fellowship time will begin at 5:30pm, Outside)
Our meeting will celebrate God’s faithfulness and all that God has done among and through the Chapel family over the past 18 months. We will provide activities and games for parents to engage with their children outside as they participate in the meeting. For those who have concerns about gathering in large groups, you can place your chair anywhere on our lawn or even tune into 103.3 FM and listen to the Annual Meeting from your car. Staff members will bring information and ballots wherever you are seated. Part of every Annual Meeting is electing new elders by our membership. We will be choosing from six candidates to fill four open positions. To learn about our candidates, click here.
If you plan on attending the Annual Meeting, we encourage you to register using the button below. Doing so will help us prepare food and activities.
This Sunday, we will also be welcoming children 6 weeks-2 years into our nursery rooms for both the outdoor and indoor services! To help us prepare, please click HERE to complete a survey if you plan to bring your child. Children can be checked in 15 minutes prior to the service in the nursery area inside. Our screened, trained, and eager volunteers will be ready to keep your children safe and happy during the service.
Please know, this is just the start! As we progress through the fall we are planning to include more and more age groups. We also look forward to restarting our Worship Buddies program. If you are interested in volunteering, have any questions, or want to know more, please contact Christine Thomas at .
God created us to flourish in groups. Whether you thrive best in a co-ed group, men’s/women’s group, or a micro-group of five or less, we want to help you find the group that will best help you grow to be more like Jesus. We will have our Small Groups kickoff this coming Sunday, September 12, between the morning worship services. If you are not currently part of a small group, please stop by the table under the portico Sunday morning to get connected. You may also click HERE to complete our group interest form online, and we will get back to you.
To conclude our summer sermon series, Re-Cover, we welcomed guest speaker, Garrett Spitz, Lead Pastor of the Peninsula Community Chapel, one of our sister churches in the Hampton Roads Consortium. He used Ephesians 4:1-16 to teach us that Jesus has already secured unity for us. As His body, we should eagerly maintain the unity that Christ has recovered for us.
