June 19: A Note from Rich - Exciting Updates

Posted by Rich Sylvester on

Dear Chapel Family,

In our commitment to meet people wherever they are spiritually and physically, we are excited to worship together Outside, Inside, and Online beginning on Sunday, June 28th. No matter where you choose to worship physically, our prayer is that we will be united spiritually as a family of faith in this season. While a description of each worship opportunity is below, you can find more details, as well as a list of Frequently Asked Questions, at wcchapel.org/worshipingtogether.

  • Outside: 9 am under the tent. Bring a chair or a blanket and sit wherever you feel most comfortable.
  • Inside: 11 am in our main Worship Room. Masks will be provided if you do not have one.
  • Online: Live streamed at both 9 am and 11 am, as well as recorded and posted so you can participate from home as you are able. Continue to access our services at wcchapel.org/worship, and be sure to get there a few minutes early to enjoy time with others in the Digital Foyer (begins at 8:40 am and 10:40 am).

As a Chapel staff, we have been working behind the scenes to make the outside and inside services safe for all who wish to attend. To help us in our planning, we ask that you RSVP if you will be attending one of our in-person services. All are welcome at each worship opportunity. An RSVP is not required to reserve a spot but will simply help our staff team plan accordingly. To RSVP for our Outside (9 am) Service or our Inside (11 am) Service, please visit wcchapel.org/rsvp, or call the front desk at (757)229-7152. I am excited to worship alongside everyone who joins us Outside, Inside, and Online on Sunday, June 28th.

As for this Sunday (June 21st), we will continue to make our worship service available by 9 am. I am excited to learn from guest speaker Ed Haywood, Associate Pastor of our “mother” church, the Tabernacle Church of Norfolk. Travis and Ed recently sat down to have an honest conversation about race in America and the American church. You can find the videos of that conversation HERE. I look forward to learning more from Pastor Ed as he delivers our message for this Sunday. I hope you will also join us for our LIVE Digital Foyer at 9 am on our website, Facebook, or YouTube for a fun Father’s Day edition.

This Sunday we will also have another opportunity to connect with Christ and grow in our faith through our Bible in an Hour seminar which will take place both Inside our Worship Room and Online as we live stream the event, which begins at 7 pm. I hope you will join us as we learn how to share with others God’s story of creation, rebellion, redemption, and new creation with Jesus at the center. Please bring a bible (and a pen if you enjoy taking notes) and join us Sunday evening. More details can be found at wcchapel.org/bibleinanhour.

Finally, if you have not already, please remember to sign up for our Chapel Text Alerts to stay informed of the latest updates and changes to the schedule. To sign up, text the word CHAPELNEWS to the phone number 41411. For more details and a visual of these instructions, visit wcchapel.org/communications.

Privileged to serve,

Rich Sylvester
Lead Associate Pastor
